Amber teething necklaces by Selkie Designs

Baltic amber has natural pain relief and natural anti-inflamitory properties due to the slow release of its natural oils upon the warming of the stone from your babies skin. The active constituent present in the resin is called succinic acid. This is what your body absorbs. Baltic amber is actually fossilised sap from the ancient Conifer trees found around the Baltic sea 40-50 million years ago. For centuries, all over Europe, amber has been used to help with certain ailments such as the pain and inflammation caused by teething.

Each Baltic amber teething necklace handcrafted by Selkie Designs is strung on natural silk cord, as silk is one of the strongest natural fibres available. A  knot is tied between each bead, reducing the risk of choking or lost amber in the unlikely event of the necklace breaking.

As an added precaution, Selkie Designs Baltic amber teething necklaces are fastened by a sterling silver parrot clasp and safety ring. The safety ring is designed to open under pressure. If your child becomes caught on anything, the ring will simply open and the Baltic Amber teething necklace will fall off, preserving both life and necklace.

The nitty gritty of the draw

Each successful story submission to ibreastfed.com during the month of March 2009 will be allocated a number. The first story published in March will be #1, the second will be #2, etc. Participants are welcome to submit more than one story if they have more than one story to tell. In such a case each story will receive a separate entry into the draw.

Submissions from any country are welcome as the prize can be shipped internationally at no cost to the winner.

The winner will be selected at random on 3rd April, 2009 (which may be 2nd April for some readers depending on geographical location) using random.org’s integer generator. The winner’s first name will be published on this page and the winner will be notified by email and asked to supply a postal address for shipment of the prize. If the winner fails to respond within one week of the draw then another number/winner will be chosen.

The prize of one 34cm light rainbow baltic amber teething necklace will be mailed directly to the winner from Canberra, Australia.  If you are outside Australia please allow a few weeks for your prize to reach you.
